My first month as your new Commander has certainly been busy! It seems like everything that could go wrong, did—but thanks to the support of so many members and volunteers, we are making it through.

We recently installed a new dishwasher in the bar area, but unfortunately it has had a mind of its own. Just when we think we have the flooding issue fixed, it happens again. Along with that, we have discovered several other leaks, primarily in the bar area. The water made its way downstairs into the space we rent to Calvary Church and even affected a couple of our fire alarm devices, which will require repairs.

We are also continuing to troubleshoot issues with our A/C. Repair technicians have been out several times, and each time we thought it was fixed. Then the weather warms up, and we discover we still have more work to do.

With all of these unexpected repairs, I am looking for volunteers who have experience with drywall, plumbing, general contracting, or other building maintenance skills. We will provide and pay for the necessary supplies—we simply need helping hands and expertise.

One thing I have learned very quickly is that the success of our Post depends on our members. The funds that keep our building operating and support our programs come from you. Whether it's attending dinners, playing barstool bingo, participating in raffles, making donations at dances, purchasing bake sale items, bidding in silent auctions, or simply supporting our events, every contribution helps.

​

So please come by, get involved, and have some fun. Together, we can keep AMVETS Post 1 strong for our veterans, members, and our community.
